September 4th, 2010

I think our kids will get a better education and have the chance to grow without the overwhelming influences of peer pressure. My regret comes from suddenly realizing my daughter will not have a ?First Day of School?.

I can?t say that I really remember my first day, but there is a picture of me in a pretty pink dress holding a flower to take to my teacher. That photo is a permanent reminder of what must have been a terrifying and exciting day for me. It is a day my daughter will never experience.

Katherine turns five this year and could be starting kindergarten in Sept. We could be picking out back packs, school supplies and her own ?First Day of School? outfit. She could be wondering about the kids in her class. Would she find a best friend in the group? What would her teacher be like? We?ll never know.

As parents we have to make lots of choices for our children, and hope that we are making the right choice. The choice to home school takes lots of thought and research.

Some are along the world’s most beautiful lakes, while others are on small and quiet ones. Lakefront property is common in the USA and Canada, since they have about 3,000 lakes.

Some lakefront properties set themselves apart from the rest. Less than a 4-hour drive from the areas of Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New Jersey is a village at the Bear Trap Dunes, which was given the “2002 Development of the Year” award for some of the best lakefront property in the area. Near Delaware, elegant lakefront property is available next to the Indian River Bay.

In Florida, the Hammock Beach, situated at the Palm Coast, is enclosed by very old oak hammocks and the Atlantic Ocean. Here one has a chance to obtain pre-construction pricing. Then, moving towards the Southeast, there are beautiful lakefront properties in the Mississippi, such as the Pickwick Pines Resort in Iuka and the Old Waverly in West Point. These provide an amazing experience of stylish living. A lakefront property on Lake Wylie, near Charlotte, North Carolina, is “The Sanctuary,” which is a natural reserve society of less than 200 home sites.

Even though it takes

September 4th, 2010

Even though it takes up time you have to get other things done.

5. Buy yourself a magazine

6. Take a bubble bath

7. Go to a spa

If you are lonely you should avoid isolating yourself. Perhaps your friends have left because they didn’t know what to do to help, simply because you didn’t ask them. If you feel uncomfortable asking for support start with small things and work up to bigger ones.

1. Try inviting a friend to coffee or tea

2. Ask a friend to stay for an hour while you take a bath, read a magazine, or go for a walk alone.

3. Call a local senior daycare program and arrange for your loved one to go there once a week.

Business Wire, Sept 01, 2010

ATLANTA — The U.S. Small Business Administration is reminding small businesses
that Oct. 1 is the filing deadline for federal economic injury

When the Secretary of Agriculture issues a disaster declaration to help
farmers recover from damages and losses to crops, the Small Business
Administration issues a declaration to eligible entities affected by the
same disaster, said Frank Skaggs, director of SBAs Field Operations
Center East in Atlanta.

Under this declaration, the SBAs Economic Injury Disaster Loan program
is available to eligible farm-related and nonfarm-related entities that
suffered financial losses as a direct result of this disaster.
Agricultural producers, farmers and ranchers are not eligible to apply
to SBA.

The loan amount can be up to $2 million with a 4 percent interest rate
and terms up to 30 years. The SBA determines eligibility based on the
size of the applicant, type of activity and its financial resources.
Loan amounts and terms are set by the SBA and are based on each
applicants financial condition. These working capital loans may be used
to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable, and other bills that
could have been paid had the disaster not occurred. The loans are not
intended to replace lost sales or profits.

Grandchildren group portraits are popular as

September 4th, 2010

Grandchildren group portraits are popular as gifts, but are poor profit makers by themselves. You must insist that the studio be able to photograph each individual family while they are in the studio with the grandchildren. This may involve four or five families, so be sure to allot enough time to accommodate everyone. Since orders from this type of portrait session can run very high, it may be wise to waive the session fees for the individual families.

Finally, a word about break downs is in order. When photographing a family, you can suggest some fun pictures with different combinations of family members. Grandma would love to have a picture of herself with the grandchildren, Dad would be interested in a shot of he and his two boys.

When a potential buyer contacts you, you

September 3rd, 2010

When a potential buyer contacts you, you don?t want to simply fax over some scattered scraps of paper. First impressions count. You need a genuine, professional marketing presentation of your business. At the very least, it should include an Executive Summary, a Business Overview, a Facilities Profile and a Financial Summary. The financial information must be in an intelligent format that emphasizes the cash flow value to a new owner.

What?s Your Business Worth?

This is the most important question you will ask yourself in the selling process?and you will probably have the wrong answer. Many of us have an idea of what we think our companies are worth but, unfortunately, we are usually wrong. Pricing your business is one of the most important steps in the process. Price it too low, and you?re stealing from yourself. Price it to high and you?re kidding yourself?but no one else?and you won?t achieve the goal of selling your business.

Each state has their respective statutes of limitations, so check with your own state on this one.

Personal injury victims with a strong case should not have to pay any out of pocket expenses. Any attorney worth his salt will take on a personal injury case on a contingency basis. This means that the attorney will cover all expenses during the trial, and take his fee as a percentage of the recovery. Typically, this ranges from 1/3 to 1/2 of the total damages. The best place to find the appropriate personal injury lawyer, is through referrals. Ask friends, or relatives, professional lawyers who do not specialize in personal injury cases, however they should guide you in the right direction. In addition, most local bar associations have referral services in which the names of lawyers are available, arranged by legal specialty.

As with anything, prevention is the best medicine.

This is the ‘right of subrogation’. It appears in very small fine print in most every health insurance policy in New York.

Some policies are very specific and say, “If you bring a lawsuit to recover money for your injuries, and we have paid for your medical bills, we have a contractual right to be repaid.” The Courts in New York have consistently permitted health insurance companies to intervene in pending injury lawsuits to allow the health insurer to recover money that they already paid.
